Black Friday reviewed by Matt Fowler. Narration by Max Scoville.
Black Friday is a goofy, goopy monster mash that also comes with meaningful background commentary about worker exploitation and corporate greed. Not all of the comedic elements land, but the movie’s energy and ensemble help carry it across the finish line. It takes the parallels usually drawn between zombies and consumerism and shines them up, regifting a new toy in a way that makes it work for the world now. It also poignantly pokes at character clichés and work/life balance while drenching the joint in alien ooze.
